Questions:

Have you ever damaged a book?

Hmm…I guess it depends on what you consider damage. I have some books that I like to underline in (mainly non-fiction books). I know that will probably make some of you feel sick haha. Other than that, I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten food/drink on a few of my books in the past, but nothing beyond that.

How long does it take you to read a book?

It really depends on the book. If it is a book that captures my interest, I can read it in one or two days. If it is a book that I am dreading/have to read/don’t really like that well, then it can take me up to two weeks to finish it.

Books that you haven’t finished?

Several years ago, I made a decision that revolutionized my reading life. I decided that if I really couldn’t get into a book after about three or four chapters (a good, solid effort I feel), then I could put it down and not feel guilty about it. So…there are numerous books that I haven’t finished. Two that I can think of off the top of my head that I DNF would be Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray and We Need To Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver.

Hyped/popular books you didn’t like?

There are a few I could add to this list. The top two I can think of are The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. I really wasn’t a fan of this one. You can read my review of it here. The other is The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. It’s one of my best friend’s favorite books…and I still have no idea why haha

Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?

Well….when I need a break from books that make me use my brain a lot, I will sometimes pick up a romance novel. It helps me turn my brain off for a while. I just don’t tend to advertise that I’m reading it…haha

How many books do you own?

Wow, there is no telling. I have 7 bookshelves in my house, so you do the math? Then I also have a ton of books on my iPad too.

Are you a fast reader or a slow reader?

I am a fairly fast reader. Again, it depends on the subject matter of the book and how interested in it I am. But, I would say I’m on the higher side of the scale when it comes to speed.

Do you like to buddy read?

I’ve never done this before! I would be totally willing to try it though!

Do you read better in your head or out loud?

I generally read in my head. However, if the book has really good dialogue, then I will sometimes read it out loud, much to the bemusement of my husband 😉

If you were only allowed to own one book, what would it be and why?

I would be a big, fat cheater here and choose an anthology, so I would have multiple books in one book! I would either choose The Bible or my anthology of Jane Austen novels.

And I tag…you!! If you are reading this and want to do the tag, please do it! Let me know when you do! I want to see your answers 🙂

What are your thoughts? Do we read similarly? I want to know!

Love and happy reading,

  1. Oh wow, 7. bookshelves. !!! That is goal I wanna reach someday !

also, so lucky of you ! Im still feeling quite bad about needing to dnf something xD mostly as it’s not the book’s fault, but my brain’s. As usually it happens as im too lost in it and cannot process the informations or cannot see any pictures in my head while reading; and it ends up boring to me.

Nice answers ! I might pick this tag later on xx

Awesome idea to DNF after 4 chapters if you aren’t liking it. I still have issues with this. Also, I have The Cruel Prince! I’m looking forward to it and hope I like it. I have seen some mixed reviews. Sorry it wasn’t a fave. 💙

Thanks for linking back to me. I really enjoyed reading this! 😉
