Awesome Blogger Award

So, I am the worst, and it has taken me so long to post this! I was nominated for this award by not one, but two awesome bloggers!! Thank you so much to Claire @ Cup of Books and Bree @ In Love and Words for nominating me! If you aren’t following their blogs yet, go do it! They are both fantastic, and I love them 🙂

Behind the Awesome Blogger Award

The award was created by Maggie at Dreaming of Guatemala who stated – “This is an award for the absolutely wonderful writers all across the blogging world. They have beautiful blogs, are kind and lovely, and always find a way to add happiness and laughter to the lives of their readers. That is what truly defines an awesome blogger.”

Claire’s Questions:

1: Do you prefer hot chocolate, tea or coffee?

I actually really love all three! As a general rule, I drink tea every morning. But, I occasionally will drink coffee, and hot chocolate is a special treat for sure!

2: Would you rather read under a snuggly blanket by the fire or outdoors in the warm sun with a cold drink?

Definitely under a snuggly blanket by the fire! I am deathly afraid of bugs, and the outdoors has SO. MANY. BUGS. *shivers*

3: What is your favourite animal?

I have always really loved black panthers, but I also love giraffes!

4: What is your favourite movie?

This is a hard one. It is a toss up between Ever After, Dirty Dancing, and Moulin Rouge.

5: What is your favourite dessert?

I really love creme brûlée, but I also love cookies. And ice cream. And pie. And cake…

6: What is your favourite book?

I know you are all sick of hearing about it by now, but it is Winter of Fire by Sherryl Jordan. Just read it. You will not be disappointed.

7: Do you prefer reading or writing?

I generally prefer reading. I am actually writing a book, but it has been an ongoing project that has spanned years. I really do hope to finish it someday!

8: If you could pick any book that you wish you had written, what would it be?

Hmm…I wish I were brilliant enough to have written Pride and Prejudice. It is a masterpiece 🙂

9: Who is your favourite author?

Appropriate question, since it is Jane Austen! I love Sherryl Jordan as well, obvs, but I love more of Austen’s work as a whole so she takes first place.

10: Which do you prefer, Marvel or DC?

I think I prefer Marvel. I’m not a huge comic book fan, but I have seen all of the movies, thanks to my husband, and I tend to like Marvel movies better.

Bree’s Questions:

1: What is your favorite quote from your favorite book?

Ooh, there are two quotes from Winter of Fire that are fantastic:

“I ran then, following the power, ran with joy and a wild, winging certainty, right into the hearth of everything I loved. And there was no earth, no cold, no dust, nor stones, nor water rushing past; but only this joy, this singing, awesome flight straight into the soul of God. Into fire.” – Sherryl Jordan, Winter of Fire

“They cannot put their stamp upon your soul.” – Sherryl Jordan, Winter of Fire

2: What is your favorite thing about your favorite author’s books?

I adore Austen’s wit. Her social commentary is flawless. And the romance…it makes your heart all fuzzy. Also, her heroines are fabulous and I want to be them. 🙂

3: Describe how you felt after you’d just finished your favorite book for the first time.

I read Winter of Fire for the first time when I was in the 7th grade. Elsha is one of the first powerhouse women that I truly connected with. She was so brave and strong, but she still had a vulnerable and romantic side. She made me want to go out and conquer the world. (Also, keep in mind that this was at the height of the ‘girl power’ movement of the early 00’s, so I was here for the powerful female characters!)

4: What is one bookish item (aside from books and shelves!) that you absolutely cannot live without?

That’s a tough one. I have several bookish tote bags that I use all the time. I also have several bookish mugs that I love.

5: What is the best biography, manga, or graphic novel you ever read? (This may seem extremely random, but it’s actually very self-serving for me. I’m looking for fantastic bios to read and I want to try reading manga and graphic novels)

For graphic novels, I really loved The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang! (Check out my review for it). Another great one is My Favorite Thing Is Monsters by Emil Ferris.

For biographies, I really liked Talking As Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham. I also loved Buffering by Hannah Hart, and Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick

Here are the awesome bloggers that I nominate for this award:

Leslie @ Books Are The New Black

Clarissa @ The Quirky Lady Bookworm

Destiny @ Howling Libraries

Samantha @ Modern Witch’s Bookshelf

Margaret @ Weird Zeal

If you have already been nominated for this award, feel free not to do it, but know that I still think you are awesome anyway 😉

My Questions:

1: If you could only choose one genre to read for the rest of your life, what would it be?

2: What is the longest series you have ever read?

3: Have you ever met any authors in person? If so, who?

4: What color dominates your bookshelves?

5: Do you have any genre that you do not like/would never read?

What did you think of my answers? Do you agree or disagree with anything? Let me know down in the comments!

Love and happy reading,
