It’s time for another monthly wrap-up!! I had an excellent reading month for the month of July and I read a grand total of 13 books! So, without further ado, let’s get into it!
Books I Read:

A Thousand Perfect Notes by C.G. Drews (5 Stars)
A Soul Full of Stars by Bree Lauren (5 Stars)
Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi (5 Stars)
Everything is Awful by Matt Bellassai (3.5 Stars)
Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson (4 Stars)
Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch (REVIEW) (5 Stars)

So, I feel like I started off the month super strong with mostly 5 star reviews, and then it sort of trickled off into less stellar books. There were are few really great books from this month though!
Physical Books: 6
E-Books: 2
Audiobooks: 5

I enjoyed the posts I did this month. I have been toying with the idea of adding in another Book Review day per week, since I have been consistently reading so many books. What do you think?
Getting Personal:
This month was a fun month, mixed with a lot of just normal, boring life! I had some pool hangouts with friends. I went to two different 4th of July parties. I had my monthly Tea Party with my girlfriends. I went to the zoo with friends. And I went to see the Whitney biopic – which was super good, and super sad! I highly recommend it!
I also went to lots of doctor appointments. For those of you who don’t really know me, which is most of you, I have been having chronic neck, shoulder and back pain for about the past 6 years. I see a massage therapist every two weeks, as well as a chiropractor. My massage therapist told me that she really thought I should go see a specialist of some kind because she is just maintaining me so I can function, but she isn’t really helping me to get better.
Long story short, I was referred to see an orthopedist by my general practitioner. They had me get an MRI. They said I have a herniated disc that is compressing one of my nerves, and they have referred me to a physical therapist. I feel like there is more going on than they have found so far, but they told me to give it 8 weeks before we make any more steps.
So, some ups and some downs, and hopefully some answers soon! I’ll keep you updated as I find out more about my neck situation.
My August TBR Pile:
Physical Books:
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, Jodi Meadows
Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson
E-Books:
Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon
Audiobooks:
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz
ARCS:
The Late Bloomers’ Club by Louise Miller
The Phantom Tree by Nicola Cornick
There are some repeats on this list from last month. Dragonfly in Amber is going to remain on this list until I get my act together and actually finish it! I really hope that will happen by the end of this month. Truly Devious is going to be a buddy read with a friend of mine, and we decided on this month! I’m excited to get to My Plain Jane and Stalking Jack the Ripper, as I’ve heard so many good things!
How many books did you read this month? Have you read any of the books I read? What about the books on my TBR for August? Let me know down in the comments!
Love and happy reading,
Lovely wrap up 😍

Looks like a really full month, Whitney! I also read Homegoing this month, and i was so surprised how much I connected with each person’s story, even though they only lasted one chapter. It almost felt like i was reading a compilation of short stories (which I am not typically one to do!). But the overarching storyline was just beautiful (and so sad), and I might have cried a couple of times.

I felt the same way about Homegoing! It was such a beautiful story, and I was also surprised with how much I connected with each of the characters. I thought the storytelling technique was absolutely brilliant!

I had a record reading month July! I read 19 books! Mostly on audio. I have no idea how I accomplished that, but I’m glad because I’m so behind on my Goodreads Challenge LOL!
Umm… I must know more about your Tea party (and how I can get an invite, haha!) That sounds like the best thing ever and I’m very jealous.
I’m not jealous about your neck issues 😦 I have neck and shoulder issues as well, but it sounds like yours is a ton worse. I hope physical therapy helps you out! When mine got bad and I started physical therapy it helped a ton.

Wow!! 19 books is amazing!! 😳📚📚 I’m actually super ahead on my Goodreads goal this year, and that is entirely due to me starting this blog haha
I have a tea party at my house once a month! I just had so many friends from different parts of my life, and I wanted to be able to have them all in one place…so my monthly tea parties were born! If you’re anywhere near Nashville you are totally welcome to come! ☺️
Yeah, I really hope the physical therapy works for me. I need to try to keep an open mind. I’m glad to hear that it has helped you!

That sounds like so much fun! I wish I lived nearby, but I may just totally rip-off your idea and have a tea party at my house once a month. 😛 There are so many friends that I never see because we are all so busy, but maybe if we had a set date every month to get together, that would help! ❤

You should! It has been such a fun thing to look forward to each month, and my friends are all beginning to become friends with each other!!

The only book I have read that you read last month was Life of Pi. I read it with my Grandma. She loved it and I hated it. I’m glad you liked it! Do you know if I would need to read My Lady Jane before I read My Plane Jane? Or are they stand alones? Sounds like you had a great July! I hope August is just as good!

I’m fairly sure you can read them as stand alones. My Lady Jane is about King Edward and Lady Jane Gray, and My Plain Jane is about Jane Eyre. I hope this helps!! And I hope you have a great August too!
