Yearly Wrap-Up: 2019

yearlywrapup

I am a few weeks late on this, but I wanted to go ahead and post my yearly wrap-up for 2019! It was a crazy year for me. The vast majority of my year was focused on our adoption. After waiting for what felt like forever, we finally adopted our daughter in 2019! It has been an amazing and stressful journey, but it finally feels like we are settling down into a good routine. Other than the adoption, I spent a lot of time with family and friends, as well as some much needed time with my husband. I left my job and became a stay-at-home mom. And I still read a TON of books!!

Books I Read

All of that said, I was really very proud of myself that I was still able to read 120 books in 2019!! I was down from my number in 2018, but I had a lot going on this year. I am honestly surprised that I was even able to break 100 with the adoption, and I went 20 books over!

If you are interested, here is the link to my Goodreads Year In Books 2019! I always enjoy seeing other people’s year on Goodreads.

Here are some of my reading stats for 2019:

I’m proud of myself for reading from a wide variety of genres. As usual, contemporary and historical fiction are my highest. But, they were very closely followed by fantasy this year, which is unusual for me. I read a lot of great fantasy books this year though. I also read 21 non-fiction books, which I am so excited about! Non-fiction is sometimes a struggle for me, so this number is really high.

Something I did notice is that I read mostly books by female authors. While I think this is fine, I also want to push myself to read more books by men in 2020.

Last year I posted my reading goals for the next year in my yearly wrap-up, but I actually posted them in a separate post this year. If you would like to know what my 2020 Reading Goals are, go check out my post!

Overall, I am very satisfied with how my reading year went! I read way more than I thought I would, and from a wide variety of genres. Hopefully in 2020 I can stretch my comfort zone even farther!!

How did your 2019 reading year turn out? How many books did you read? Are you satisfied with what kinds of books you read? What are your goals for 2020? Let’s talk in the comments!

Love and happy reading,

Author:

Hello!! My name is Whitney, and I love books! I spend a huge amount of time reading (way more time than I should, if we are being perfectly honest!) I live in Tennessee with my husband, daughter, and my two dogs, who are a total mess and generally are my reading buddies. I will probably share them with you, too. I also love to sing, hike, play The Sims, watch tons of YouTube videos, and drink creamy tea and coffee.
