The End of the Year Book Tag

Posted on December 26, 2020 by whitreadslit

I found this tag through Priyasha @ Books and Co. If you aren’t following her, head over there now and check out her lovely blog! I thought this would be a fun tag to do for the end of the year. It is always fun to look back over the books you have read in the year.

Hello!! My name is Whitney, and I love books! I spend a huge amount of time reading (way more time than I should, if we are being perfectly honest!) I am currently working as a library page at a branch of my local public library. I live in Texas with my husband, daughter, and my dogs, who are a total mess and generally are my reading buddies. I also love to sing, hike, play The Sims, watch tons of YouTube videos, and drink creamy tea and coffee.

#MiniReview 54: You Should See Me In a Crown by Leah Johnson. This was a super cute YA contemporary! I really liked the romance and the friendships in the book, as well as the parts about music and being a performing arts geek (which made me very nostalgic for when I was a performing arts geek in high school). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
#MiniReview 53: A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas. This was recommended to me by my friend @taylor.welton and it was a really fun read! I always enjoy gender-bent retellings. And I also enjoy seeing Victorian or Edwardian women who subvert society expectations. A fun mystery for sure! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
#MiniReview 52: Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade. This was a super cute romance! I loved all of the fan fiction references and the romance was super sweet. I didn’t realize this was the first in a series, and now I’m excited for the next one! This was kind of the adult version of Cinder & Ella by Kelly Oram, and I’m here for it ❤️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Sometimes reading looks like dirty dishes and the detritus from last night’s dinner 😂📚🤷🏻‍♀️
#MiniReview 51: Soul of Stars by Ashley Poston. I enjoyed this book. I really liked the first book in this duology, Heart of Iron, but this one was not quite as good in my opinion. It was still a good read, and I loved getting to spend more time with the characters I loved from the first book. It is worthwhile if you really liked the first book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
#MiniReview 50: There There by Tommy Orange. I read this book for a couple of challenges for a book by an indigenous author. While I do feel like I got a better feel for the urban Native American experience, this book was so hard for me to get through. I found the writing to be fine, but there were so many characters that I didn’t feel connected to anyone. Plus, it felt unfinished to me. Not for me, for sure. ⭐️⭐️1/2
