Monthly Wrap-Up: August

August was a month of lots of reading (13 books again), and also a lot of stress and reflection. Thank you so much to everyone who had such kind words to say when I announced my short hiatus a couple of weeks back. I have been blown away by how supportive this little corner of the internet is ๐Ÿ™‚

Now, let’s get into it!!

Getting Personal:

I didn’t post quite as much this month. I got a bit burned out, which is why I took the past two weeks off (and why this post is going up on the 10th of September haha) I have found that taking a short break was necessary for me to get back to enjoying posting on the blog again…and not feeling like reading was becoming a chore.

Other than my blog break, I had a fairly low key month. I got my hair redone (in red this time!). I had a Pride and Prejudice mini series marathon with my friend Taylor. Baby showers, birthday parties, and my monthly tea party ๐Ÿ™‚ I sang in a wedding, which was fun, as well as a bit stressful.

I am still going to physical therapy for my neck/shoulder pain. I’ve been going now for around 5 or 6 weeks, and I’m still not noticing much of a difference. I hope it will start to help soon, but I am looking into other treatment options in the meantime.

My September TBR Pile:

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian

My Plain Jane by The Lady Janies

I’m going to try to keep the number of books I read this month to a much lower number. I’m at least not going to stress about trying to read quickly. ๐Ÿ˜‰

How many books did you read last month? Have you read any of the books I read? What about the books on my TBR for September? Do you ever feel like you need to take a little break from reading? Let me know down in the comments!ย

Love and happy reading,

I enjoyed the posts I did this month. I have been toying with the idea of adding in another Book Review day per week, since I have been consistently reading so many books. What do you think?ย

Getting Personal:

This month was a fun month, mixed with a lot of just normal, boring life! I had some pool hangouts with friends. I went to two different 4th of July parties. I had my monthly Tea Party with my girlfriends. I went to the zoo with friends. And I went to see the Whitney biopic – which was super good, and super sad! I highly recommend it!

I also went to lots of doctor appointments. For those of you who don’t really know me, which is most of you, I have been having chronic neck, shoulder and back pain for about the past 6 years. I see a massage therapist every two weeks, as well as a chiropractor. My massage therapist told me that she really thought I should go see a specialist of some kind because she is just maintaining me so I can function, but she isn’t really helping me to get better.

Long story short, I was referred to see an orthopedist by my general practitioner. They had me get an MRI. They said I have a herniated disc that is compressing one of my nerves, and they have referred me to a physical therapist. I feel like there is more going on than they have found so far, but they told me to give it 8 weeks before we make any more steps.

So, some ups and some downs, and hopefully some answers soon! I’ll keep you updated as I find out more about my neck situation.

I really hope that will happen by the end of this month. Truly Devious is going to be a buddy read with a friend of mine, and we decided on this month! I’m excited to get to My Plain Jane and Stalking Jack the Ripper, as I’ve heard so many good things!
