May Subscription Box: OwlCrate

In May, I did receive two book subscription boxes. I got my box from OwlCrate, as always, because they are the best! I also got a box from Once Upon a Bookclub! Since I haven’t read the entire book yet, and you have to open the gifts in that particular box on specified pages of the book, I am going to be posting a separate blog on it. It will probably go up sometime next month.

So, today will be dedicated solely to the May OwlCrate box! Let’s get to the unboxing!!

May OwlCrate: Fight Like A Girl

So, when I heard what the theme of this box was going to be, I was fairly certain what book was going to be included inside. I just wasn’t sure what kind of items would be included with it, but I was excited to find out!

The first item I pulled from the box was this really cool wall hanging! It is a quote from the ever popular A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas. I still haven’t read this series, but I plan to start it sometime soon! This wall hanging was designed by Evie Bookish, and it is so neat!

I smelled this beautiful bath bomb from Whipped Up Wonderful as soon as I opened the box! It is an OwlCrate exclusive that is inspired by the character of Zélie from Children of Blood and Bone (yet another book I haven’t yet read!)

There were two beautiful pins in this box as well! The first one is a precious enamel pin from Out of Print with a quote from Hermione on it, “When in doubt, go to the library.” The other is an exclusive pin that goes along with the book from this month’s box.

Next out of the box was this beautiful bookmark from Indigo Eleven. It was inspired by both The Wrath and the Dawn and The Flame in the Mist by Renée Ahdieh. I also haven’t read either of these. *queue my identity crisis*  Who even am I?! Do I read anything?!

This gorgeous print is inspired by Inej from Six of Crows! It was illustrated by artist Mélanie Bourgeois.

This month was especially awesome, because we got TWO BOOKS in this box!! I love when we get two books for the price of one. 😀 The extra book this month was Catching Stars by Cayla Keenan. Here is the Goodreads synopsis:

Witch. Betrayal. Hunted.

Jayin Ijaad is in hiding. A witch with powerful abilities, she carves out a life for herself in the slums of Pavaal, a city rotting from the inside out. When an old acquaintance tracks her down, Jayin is dragged back into a world she tried to escape — and is determined to escape again.

Maddix Kell is on the run. After two years in prison for crimes he did not commit, Maddix escapes and seeks out a legendary order of witchhunters who are his only chance to find justice.

But all is not as it seems and Maddix soon finds himself on the run from the people he sought as allies. When their paths collide, Jayin and Maddix must put aside their prejudices and forge an uneasy alliance that could crumble at any moment. But if they want to survive in Aestos — a brutal kingdom where magic and corruption lie hand in hand and enemies lurk around every corner — they must first survive each other.

And finally, this month’s book was Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young! Here is the Goodreads synopsis:

Raised to be a warrior, seventeen-year-old Eelyn fights alongside her Aska clansmen in an ancient rivalry against the Riki clan. Her life is brutal but simple: fight and survive. Until the day she sees the impossible on the battlefield — her brother, fighting with the enemy — the brother she watched die five years ago.

Faced with her brother’s betrayal, she must survive the winter in the mountains with the Riki, in a village where every neighbor is an enemy, every battle scar possibly one she delivered. But when the Riki village is raided by a ruthless clan thought to be a legend, Eelyn is even more desperate to get back to her beloved family.

She is given no choice but to trust Fiske, her brother’s friend, who sees her as a threat. They must do the impossible: unite the clans to fight together, or risk being slaughtered one by one. Driven by a love for her clan and her growing love for Fiske, Eelyn must confront her own definition of loyalty and family while daring to put her faith in the people she’s spent her life hating.

I knew that Sky in the Deep was going to be this month’s book! I’m excited to get a copy of this one. I’ve heard so many people talking about this book in the bookish community. As always, this copy was signed by the author, and came with a letter from the author as well. It also has an OwlCrate exclusive cover, which is silver, rather than gold.

Love and happy reading,

Hello!! My name is Whitney, and I love books! I spend a huge amount of time reading (way more time than I should, if we are being perfectly honest!) I live in Texas with my husband, daughter, and my dogs, who are a total mess and generally are my reading buddies. I also love to sing, hike, play The Sims, watch tons of YouTube videos, and drink creamy tea and coffee.
