This year I started writing mini-reviews over on my Instagram whenever I finish a book. It has been a really great way of remembering more about my thoughts on a book and why I gave it the star rating I did. So, I thought it would be good practice to corral those mini-reviews into one place twice a month so that all of you can take a peek at what I’ve been reading and see my thoughts on each book.
The Wrong Mr. Darcy by Evelyn Lozada with Holly Lorincz (Finished on August 9th)
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book 73: This is a Pride and Prejudice retelling, so I was expecting a bit more out of this than I got. If you go into it expecting a light sports romance rather than a P&P retelling, I think you will be much more satisfied. (A full review of this will be coming to the blog on the 24th!)
Fable by Adrienne Young (Finished on August 12th)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2
Book 74: This was such a fun pirate story! It had super strong world building, a great storyline, and a super powerful female lead. I loved this book, and now I cannot wait for next year when the sequel will come out! (A full review of this will be coming to the blog on the 31st!)
Lovely War by Julie Berry (Finished on August 17th)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book 75: What a creative premise for telling a war story! I absolutely loved the fact that various Greek gods were the narrators, including Aphrodite, Ares, Apollo, and Hades. The love stories told were moving and sweet. This book made me smile and it made me cry. I very rarely come across WWI historical fiction, and this delivered everything I was looking for. Fantastic story and characters! (Also, I highly recommend reading this on audio, as it has a full cast recording!)

What books did you read in the first half of August? Have you read any of the books I did? What did you think of them? Let’s chat in the comments!
Love and happy reading,
