Harry Potter Anniversary Week: Top 7 Characters

I was tagged by Margaret @ Weird Zeal to participate in this very special event! Every day for the next week, I will be posting a Harry Potter related post to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in the UK! Today is Day 3 – Top 7 Characters! Here is what Margaret had to say:

This year, on June 26th, will be 21 years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was published in the UK. And yes, 21 is kind of an awkward number, but I didn’t have a blog last year for the 20th anniversary, and I guess that mean the series can legally drink in the US, which means nothing because it’s British, but ANYWAYS.

I will be posting something Harry Potter related on the seven days leading up to June 26th, and I’m inviting you to join me!

The Rules:

  • Link back to one of Weird Zeal’s posts so she can see that you’re taking part!
  • Tag your friends and tell them to join in as well!
  • Have fun!

So, now I have the monumental task of narrowing down all of my favorite characters to the top 7…wish me luck… Btw, these will be in no particular order. I’m having a hard enough time just picking 7. I don’t think I could then rank them after that.

1: Harry Potter

I always feel like Harry gets the short end of the stick! When people talk about their favorite character, he tends to get passed over. But I love Harry! I think he is fantastic – he’s brave, funny, awkward as all get-out, and a good friend. I think he is a great main character, because he isn’t perfect.

2: Hermione Granger

I feel like most bookish girls see themselves in Hermione, and I am no exception. I love how much she loves to learn, but also how she is a fierce friend and not afraid of adventure. Basically, I hope I can be Hermione when I grow up.

3: Remus Lupin

I have always been a huge fan of Lupin. He was a fantastic teacher. And he has a tortured soul, which just gives him so many layers. He is also always there for Harry whenever Harry asks, which just makes my heart happy. Plus, he gets to marry Tonks, who is also awesome.

4: Molly Weasley

If I can’t be Hermione when I grow up, then I want to be Molly Weasley. She is the best mom, doing all of your typical mom things. But then she has this awesome badass side too! I’ll just leave this quote here for reference: “NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!”

5: Draco Malfoy

OK, this one is controversial, I know. But y’all, Draco is tragically misunderstood. Sure, he said and did some awful things, but he had a horrible upbringing with a Deatheater as a father. Plus, he has a conscience, which he battled with for the entirety of sixth year. I just think that Draco has a soft, caramel center to that prickly, gorgeous exterior 😏

6: Minerva McGonagall

I just absolutely love McGonagall. She is so stern and strict, but she also really loves her students and wants what is best for them. She wants them to learn, and also be treated fairly. But she isn’t afraid to hand out punishment where punishment is due, or to defend her school when it needs defending. OK, I also want to be McGonagall when I grow up!

7: Luna Lovegood

I believe that Luna is pretty universally loved. We all have that friend who is just a little bit kooky, but you love that kookiness. Luna wouldn’t be Luna without it, and I wouldn’t want her any other way!

Again, if you aren’t participating in Harry Potter Anniversary Week, and you love Harry Potter, what are you waiting for?! There is still time! If you decide to do a post, please ping-back to me so I can see your post!
