I was tagged by Margaret @ Weird Zeal to participate in this very special event! Every day for the next week, I will be posting a Harry Potter related post to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in the UK! Today is Day 5 – Ships! Here is what Margaret had to say:
This year, on June 26th, will be 21 years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was published in the UK. And yes, 21 is kind of an awkward number, but I didn’t have a blog last year for the 20th anniversary, and I guess that means the series can legally drink in the US, which means nothing because it’s British, but ANYWAYS.
I will be posting something Harry Potter related on the seven days leading up to June 26th, and I’m inviting you to join me!
The Rules:
- Link back to one of Weird Zeal’s posts so she can see that you’re taking part!
- Tag your friends and tell them to join in as well!
- Have fun!
So, today’s post is all about ships! Now, I want to be sure we are all on the same page (Mom, this part is for you 😉 ) What is a ‘ship’, you might be asking? A ‘ship’ is when you really want to see two people in a romantic relationship. So, you might say something like, “Man, I really ship Harry Potter and Hermione Granger!” This can work for both fictional characters, and for people in real life (generally celebrities). Ok, let’s get on to my Harry Potter ships now!
Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy
So, I never knew that I needed this ship in my life, until I discovered Bex-chan on fanfiction.net. She has written two brilliant ‘Dramione’ fanfics that made me hardcore wish that this relationship happened in the books. One is called Hunted (set 4 years post-Hogwarts) and it is very, very good.
The absolute best one, however, is called Isolation. It is an alternate timeline for the last book, where Hermione remained at Hogwarts and ends up having to harbor Draco in her dorm room because Voldemort is trying to hunt Draco down to kill him because Draco failed to kill Dumbledore. Of course they loathe each other at the beginning, but walls start to come down and feelings start to develop. I seriously didn’t know I needed this in my life!!! If you read it, let me know. And sorry, but your life will be forever changed haha
Obviously I know this is not a super realistic pairing, but once they got past their differences, I feel like they would actually make a really good fit! 😍 They are both brilliant, passionate, and talented. Not to mention good looking 😉 Also, I know this was very long-winded, but I just want this to be real, OK?!
Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood
I don’t know why, but I have always thought that Neville and Luna would be super cute together. I feel like she would help Neville to be able to laugh at himself. And I think Neville would be a good, grounded person for Luna. I ship it 😉
What Harry Potter characters do you ship? Let me know down in the comments!
