WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words! All you have to do is answer the following three questions:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
What are you currently reading?
I’ve just started Foolish Hearts. It seems like it is going to be a really cute, light-hearted read.
Oh, House of Gold, you will be my Everest! I am currently at 14% on this one…I hope to make significant strides on it this week as soon as I am finished with The Little Paris Bookshop.
The Little Paris Bookshop is our book club pick for November. I am really enjoying it so far. It is making me really want to sail through the French countryside. 🙂
What did you recently finish reading?
I am doing my own mini Non-Fiction November challenge for myself. I am terrible about reading non-fiction on a regular basis, so I thought that it would be a good change of pace to listen to exclusively non-fiction audiobooks this month. The total so far is 5!
I am a big fan of true crime and history, so Killers of the Flower Moon seemed like an interesting read to me. I knew absolutely nothing about the plight of the Osage tribe in the 1920’s, so this was fascinating and incredibly educational. I also did not know much about the beginnings of the FBI, so that was also fairly interesting. I will say there were several sections that were pretty dry, so I was glad I was listening to this one on audio so I could zone out a bit during the slow parts 😉 (3.5 Stars)
I have never read any books by Neil deGrasse Tyson, so I thought that Astrophysics for People in a Hurry seemed like a good one to cut my teeth on. Listening to this book on audio was definitely the way to go for me. Tyson is the audiobook narrator, which made this infinitely more interesting to me. He was also surprisingly funny, which kept the subject matter entertaining. My favorite sound-bytes from the book are, “Dark matter is our frenemy,” and, “Einstein is a badass.” I certainly learned a lot, but I can’t say it is a subject I will return to very often, if ever. (3.5 Stars)
I subscribe to Audible, so I have access to their monthly Audible Originals promotion. Stephen Fry’s Victorian Secrets was one of my choices this month, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself! I am a huge history nerd, so learning fun historical facts about Victorian society was very fun for me. I am also a big fan of Stephen Fry, so listening to him talk for about 8 hours was simply delightful. There were some somewhat uncomfortable sections to listen to, which knocked it down a star for me. (4 Stars)
What do you think you’ll read next?
I’m honestly not sure! It will depend on what audiobook comes in from the library first! Also, I think I’m going to be tied up with House of Gold for a while, and I would like to try to finish it pretty soon. So, I will leave this slot vacant for the time being.
Have you read any of these books? What are your thoughts on them? What are you currently reading? Let me know down in the comments!
Love and happy reading,
