WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words! All you have to do is answer the following three questions:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
What are you currently reading?
I started reading Lady Susan yesterday, and I was excited to find out that it is an epistolary novel! It will fit right in with one of my challenges. I still can’t believe I have never read it before now…
I’m excited to finally get to read You’d Be Mine! I got this book from NetGalley and cannot wait to dive on in!
What did you recently finish reading?
I just finished Thomas Wildus and the Book of Sorrows. Keep an eye out for the review, it should be going up on Monday.
Forty Autumns was our book club pick for the month of March, and I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to like it. I thought it would be dry and boring, but it was anything but! I learned so much about the years of the Cold War and the Berlin Wall. It read more like a novel, following the author’s family on both sides of the wall. If you are interested in this era of history, I would highly recommend this book! (4 Stars)
I listened to Binti on audio, and I liked it fine. I think I have found that I am just not a big sci-fi fan. The concept was very inventive, and I was engaged the whole time, but I couldn’t find myself connecting to any of the characters. Potentially this was because this is a novella (only 96 pages). If you are a fan of sci-fi, and are looking for a good book with an AOC (author of color), I would suggest this one. (3 Stars)
I had such high hopes for The Shadowhunter’s Codex. I love everything from this series…but this book was so boring. The only thing that was enjoyable for me were the doodles in the margins that were written in by the main characters from The Mortal Instruments series. A lot of it was information that I already knew, and the information that I didn’t know was just very dry. (2 Stars)
Before The Devil Breaks You is the third book in The Diviners series, and it was great! I really love how Bray dives into different characters in each book, and focuses on different back stories. This helps me to become invested in more than just the “main characters” and creates a truly ensemble cast. I cannot wait for her to write the next one!! (4.5 Stars)
I was excited when I saw A Mind of Her Own in the Audible Originals section this month, but I ended up being kind of disappointed. Getting to learn more about Marie Curie sounded so cool, but it was soooo short! Only an hour and a half, you learn a little bit about the beginnings of Curie’s research, but this audiobook is mostly about her romance with Pierre Currie. This would be totally fine if this were a full length novel, which I really do wish it were. It was well done, but just far too short to be satisfying. (3 Stars)
What do you think you’ll read next?
I really do intend to start on Twenty Things Adopted Kids With Their Adoptive Parents Knew soon! Other than this one, I’m not sure what I’m going to read next…
Have you read any of these books? What are your thoughts on them? What are you currently reading? Let me know down in the comments!
Love and happy reading,
