This year, I finally discovered the Shadowhunter Chronicles by Cassandra Clare, and my life has changed forever! 🙂 It is such an amazing world, and she is still expanding upon it, which boggles my mind and also makes me so happy! Getting started can be a bit daunting though. There are so many books, and it is kind of confusing trying to figure out what order you are supposed to read them in.

I decided, since I have finally completed all of the currently published books in the Shadowhunter Chronicles, that it would be a good idea to make a post that tells you how to read this incredible series.

First, to give credit where credit is due, I want to include the link to a video from emmmabooks where she explains all of the various ways you could potentially read the Shadowhunter Chronicles. I will be using the preferred reading order of Cassandra Clare in this post, but if you want to know some other ways you can read these books, definitely go check out Emma’s video!

How To Read The Shadowhunter Chronicles

According to Cassandra Clare, it is best to read the books in publication order, so I will be listing each of the books in publication order here for your ease 🙂

 

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1)

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons.
