Getting Personal:

December is always a good month. Christmas is my favorite holiday, and it is also my birthday month! The month started out really fun. I was part of a local community theatre production as a member of the chorus. It was a fun original musical called Scheherazade, based on the Arabian folk tale. It has kind of poked my dormant theatre nerd heart, and I might look into doing more community theatre in the new year.

I also went to the movies with friends several times, had book club, met friends for dinner, and had my monthly tea party (which was also a mini birthday party for me. My birthday is December 29th, so it is always hard to celebrate it with friends because everyone is usually out of town or busy with family).

We were not traveling for Christmas this year, since we travelled over Thanksgiving. We had a pretty chill week here at my house. My in-laws came over on Christmas evening, and other than that I have been watching my husband play Red Dead Redemption II and reading. It has been pretty great 🙂

My January TBR Pile:

january2019TBR

Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis

The Shadowhunter’s Codex by Cassandra Clare

Time’s Convert by Deborah Harkness

Pride by Ibi Zoboi

I am participating in Kathy’s (over at Books & Munches) Devour Your TBR challenge. January is January Jam Jar, where we read the books we wish we had gotten to in 2018 and pull them out of a jar for the order. I’m excited to join in on the fun this year. If you are interested in learning more about this year-long challenge, go check out the Goodread’s group, or Kathy’s post about it here.

How many books did you read this month? Have you read any of the books I read? What about the books on my TBR for January? Let me know down in the comments!

Love and happy reading,

  1. So far I have read 10 books but I am working on 2 others that I hope to get finished before the end of the year. December is my favorite month of the year because of Christmas and my birthday which was on the 2nd. I will be participating in January Jam Jar as well. I’m pretty sure I put like 30 something books in my jar. I’m going to continue to use that jar throughout the year cause there is no way I am reading that many books in one month. Happy early birthday I hope you have a great day and a happy new year.

  2. Great article!

I loved The Handmaid’s Tale. I read it before I watched the Hulu series. The 1st season was so well adapted and the 2nd season was just as good. I heard recently that she is writing a sequel. I can’t wait to read it.

I have been seeing a lot recently about My Plain Jane. I never heard of it, but always looking for new books to read.

Still currently reading To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han.

  3. Whiii! So glad to have you joining on the monthly challenges. 😀 I’m pretty curious to see how many will be able to stick mostly to their jar instead of succumbing to mood reading, haha. [I’ll probably be part of the succumbing group since.. that always happens when I try committing myself to specific books? But oh well! 😛 ]
