Twenty Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew is going to be a slow read for me, so just brace yourself 😉

I have never read a Morgan Matson book before, and I love weddings, so Save The Date seemed like a good choice for my first book by her!

I am re-reading all of Austen’s works this year on audio, and I have heard so many great things about Rosamund Pike’s performance of Pride and Prejudice (which is one of my favorite books of all time). I am loving it so far!

I am a big fan of Anne Bogel’s podcast (What Should I Read Next?) and her blog (Modern Mrs. Darcy), so I was pumped when I’d Rather Be Reading came out! I cannot wait to dive into this thin and beautiful little volume!

What did you recently finish reading?

I am still stunned that I had never read Lady Susan. I really liked it. I didn’t know that it was an epistolary novel, which was such a fun new style for this Austen fan. I enjoyed that the main character was very much an anti-hero. It was quite short, but I felt like it still told a full story. I was already a little familiar with the story from seeing the movie, Love and Friendship, but it was so much fun to hear it in Austen’s distinctive witty prose. I would definitely recommend this for any Austen fan! (4 Stars)

I will be posting a review for You’d Be Mine on Monday, but suffice it to say…I loved it! (5 Stars)

All I can say is wow. Far From The Tree was fantastic. I had been waiting on the audio book to become available from my library for months, and it was well worth the wait. All three main characters were so beautifully written. Getting to read about adoption from the child’s perspective made this adoptive mama cry big, fat tears. The relationships were exquisite. The emotions were big and messy and so very real. This is one of those books that I will recommend to everyone from now on. It has soared to the top of my favorites list. Love, love, love. (5 Stars)

I really enjoyed American Panda. I loved Mei and her sense of humor. The cultural representation in this novel was on point, and it never felt like too much. It was woven masterfully into the story, just as it was woven to thoroughly into Mei’s life. I loved this coming-of-age novel, and learning more about Chinese culture was a bonus for me (since I am adopting from China). Great read! (4 Stars)

What do you think you’ll read next?

I got The Mighty Heart of Sunny St. James at Ashley Herring Blake’s book signing last night, and I cannot wait to dive into it! We are headed to the beach next week, and this will definitely be my beach read! 🙂
